Into the Spirit (Reserved)
100 cm x 75 cm
Oil on stretched canvas
There’s something undeniably stylish and elegant about a Martini with olives. It’s a shame, though, that like many of the beverages I paint, it just tastes like nail varnish remover to me! Unfortunately, I’m more of a pint-of-lager kind of girl. Not exactly classy, I know, but I’d choose one of those any day over a glass of champagne—and definitely over a Martini!
I once tried a dirty Martini at a luxurious and very expensive cocktail bar in Soho. Honestly, not only was it the most overpriced drink I’ve ever had, but it was also the most revolting! What can I say? I’m a cheap date!
That said, I do love trying these things—for ‘research’ purposes, if nothing else! And while I might not enjoy drinking one of these, I certainly loved painting it!
If you want to know more about the title of the painting, and also a video of the process, pop over to my blog.
