Artist’s Statement
“As a contemporary still life painter, I’m endlessly fascinated by the way light dances across different surfaces! This fascination has taken me on a journey of constant discovery, always pushing me to capture its ever-shifting, fleeting nature in fresh and exciting ways. Through my work, I hope to spark a sense of wonder, encouraging people to pause for a moment and truly see the beauty in the everyday. Whether it’s a humble glass bottle or the jam oozing from a pile of doughnuts, I aim to capture their unique charm and the quiet stories they whisper. My paintings are a little celebration of the present moment—an invitation to slow down, take it all in, and appreciate life’s simple yet profound delights.”

Artist’s bio
There are two sides to my art—the bright, colorful side and, in contrast, the darker, more pensive side. But hey, I’m a Gemini, so that’s hardly surprising!
Now, I’m far from the ‘tortured’ artist type—the brooding, smock-wearing figure furiously lunging at a canvas in a whirlwind of creative agony. In fact, I’m quite ordinary! (Though my friends and family might disagree.) I’ve never lunged at a canvas in my life—though I did once karate-kick one… That painting was baaad! And yes, I’ve even been known to paint in my pyjamas.
So, you see, as a person (though hopefully not as an artist), I’m really quite bog-standard.
I could write about myself in the third person, or use some deep metaphor about being an onion with many layers, but honestly? I’m much more of a banana.
Feeling stifled and over-influenced by modern art school teaching, I abandoned ship within my first year. Instead, I chose to follow my own path, painting from the heart, the way that feels most natural. That led me to embrace the traditional art of oil painting—and I completely fell in love with it.
I won my first award in 2016, and since then, my work has been published multiple times. My paintings now hang in private collections across the globe, and in 2022, one of my pieces was exhibited at the Mall Galleries Summer Exhibition.
Much of my inspiration comes from playful light and distortions in reflective surfaces. The way light interacts with an object fascinates me—changing its appearance depending on its quality and direction. A flickering candle casting an amber glow against glass? That’ll do it for me every time. And if there’s a little tipple in that glass… well, even better.
Cheers!
